Firstly, lets remember what we have covered in previous videos.
Do you remember this chart of Parts of Speech?. I am sure that you do.
From the 8 parts of speech we have covered all about the first two parts of speech
i.e, Nouns and Pronouns in our previous videos. Please check those videos if you haven’t aleardy or if you need to revise any of them.
I have given the links in the description. In this video we are going to discuss about 3rd and a very important parts of speech : Verbs.
So, lets begin

So, what is a Verb?
Verb is the main part of the sentence.
Verbs tells us 2 things about the subject.
An Action performed by the subject
State of Being of the the subject. Or in other word state or situation of the subject.
Let me give you some examples of Action Verbs.
What is the boy doing in this image. He is running. Right. So, Run is a action verb
What is this batsman doing. He is playing. So, play is a action verb here
Now lets look at the state of being type of verbs also called as Stative Verbs. They define the state of the Subject.
This is an image of a boy. We say, ram is a boy. So, IS is a state verb. As it define the state whether he is a boy or girl
In this image, the boy feels very tired. So, feels here is a stative verb. As it defines the state of boy

Lets look into some Sentence Examples of them
First lets see for Action Verbs
Children reads book regularly. Here, what is the action performed by student. It is reading. So, read is an action verb.
2. Superman is flying in the sky. Here, what is the action performen by superman. It is flying. So, flying is an action verb

So, remember. Verb tells about the action or state of subject.

Now verbs are mainly divided into two parts.
Main Verbs
Auxilary Verbs or Helping Verbs

So, what are Main Verbs.
Main Verbs are the words that actually shows the action or activity of subject
They can stand alone without help of any other verbs.
Examples of them are : Read, sleep, eat, run.
All this words can exits independently and provided complete meaning to sentence.
Let me give you some sentence examples of them.

Bus stops. Here what is the action Bus performs. It is to stop. So, stops is a main verb
Car runs. Here what is the action or activity of car. It runs. So, run is a main verb

Now lets look into Auxilary Verbs or Helping Verbs
They give more meaning to main verb.
They can not standalone. Which means they require main verb for there existence.
Examples of them are :
is, has, do, did.
This are referred to as main helping verbs
And
Will,shall,may,can,
could, might, must. This are called model auxilary verbs.
Let me give yiu sentence examples to make you clear about them
Will,shall,may,can,
could, might, must. This are called Modal Auxilary verbs
Lets look into the sentrence examplesa to make things clearer

For the first example we are using helping verb may.
Look at this sentence. Bus may. Can you understand what is sentence is saying about bus. Bus may what?.
Now look at this sentence. Bus may stop. Here, we are telling that bus may stop. That is we are not sure if it will stop or not.
So, helping verb may is followed by stop
Lets look into second example.
Will. Now look at this sentence. Seeta will. Does this statement convey any meaning about the subject Seeta. No it doesn’t. Now look at this sentence.
Seeta will come. Here, we have used come which is main verb, with will as helping verb.
Now lets look into the last example.
Must. Now look at this sentence. They must. Here the verb must is of no meaning to sentence if it is not followed by any main verb.
Look at this sentence. They must eat. Now, we have a meaningful sentence conveying that they must eat the food. Here must is a helping verb and eat is the main verb.

Lets look into the sentence examples of them
He himself is responsible for the situation. Here, we are emphasizing on “he” using himself giving more importance to the sentence
Jennifer sewed her dress herself. Here “herself” is used to adress that she “herself” did that.
We built a garden shed by ourselves. Here “ourselves” is used and it emphazises on “our” own selves.
So, intensive pronouns are used to emphaze a nouns or pronouns. Lets look the next Pronouns.

That’s all in this video. Lets quickly go through what we have learnt.
